Climate & weather
Self-sufficient climate stations for rainfall, wind, radiation, soil moisture and evapotranspiration — up to the alpine headwaters.
What we measure.
Meteorological and agro-meteorological variables provide the lead for runoff, irrigation and heavy-rain models. Our climate stations run off-grid on solar/battery and transmit over LTE-M, optionally by satellite at remote sites. For valid rainfall data we add a wind shield and a frost-protection concept.
- Rainfallweighing or tipping-bucket gauge, year-round incl. snow
- Air temperature & humidityin a radiation shield to DWD standard
- Wind & global radiationfor evapotranspiration and energy balance
- Soil moisture & temperatureprofiles 10/30/60 cm
- Snow depth & SWEfor runoff forecasting in the headwaters
Methods & standards.
Rainfall measurement follows WMO-No.8 and DWA-M-181 — for valid data a wind shield (Nipher/Alter shield) and antifreeze solution are part of it. Reference evapotranspiration is computed per FAO-56 from radiation, wind, temperature and humidity. The loggers are designed for continuous operation down to −25 °C, with radiation shield and heating of the inlet area to DWD standard.
